Dancers

My Initial idea for the sketch book project is to draw streets of Norwich, (both old and new) and play with mise en scene in each drawing; I was planning to romanticize the drawings, and have expressionistic ballet dancers in each panel. 

 As an initial idea and planning, I decided to draw some ballet dancers from google images, using black ink pen. 

Ballet is not only a performance, but is used to express and to tell a narrative. Hence it's desirable traits to include in my panorama piece. I can explore different poses, shapes, emotions- different dances, plays- even costume. I think it would be interesting to see the 'real world' react and/or neglect something artifice like a professional dancer in an ordinary street. 

 Despite that I am drawing on A5 paper, I seem to struggle with drawing the figure in the correct scale on the page, as I seem to cut them off- something I need to practise before any final pieces.

 

For the dancers in my work, I must research;
-costume
-poses
- real videos of dancers, instead of still images.
- Look at representation of ballerinas from other artists.
